Diagnostic Care

At Maryland Avian & Exotics, our clients trust their exotic pet will receive the highest standard of veterinary care. During your pet’s consultation or exam, our veterinarian may recommend additional testing. This may be a result of finding an abnormality, or because it is your pet’s first exam with us. There are several reasons we may recommend additional testing:

• To ensure your pet’s health, since exotic pets are masters at hiding signs of illness;
• New exotic pets coming from a pet store or breeder may be carrying a variety of viruses or bacterial pathogens that while not causing an active problem may be transmitted to other pets;
• to acquire a historical baseline for future health needs.
